Is New Really New?

So often we have women say to us, "I want something that has never done before" or "I want something different and unique". Truth be told, every neckiline, silhouette, and color pattern has more than likely already been done.

One of our fashion idols is the legendary Madame Grès. She revolutionized the modern technique of draping and the idea of cutouts on gowns, but I assure you she was not the first. Before her it was the Greeks in the time of Caesar, and before the Greeks it was the Egyptians of King Tut's era. In fact...Google 'Madame Grès' and you will think you are looking at red carpet gowns from last year's Academy Awards.

Fashion is an endless cycle of tweaking and adding and taking away and bringing back again. What was old is constantly becoming new again.

So when you are looking for your next gown (or shall we say...your next LENZ Collection gown), go for something that is unique for you. Choose the gown that makes you feel glamorous or exotic or different and don't worry about what everyone else, whoever everyone else may be, is doing. Because even if Marie Antoinette or Miss USA 4 years ago already wore something similar, remember that YOU haven't.

XOXO

Ashley & Jennifer

An iconic creation by Madame Grès

What Does "Custom" Mean?

"What exactly does making a 'custom' gown mean? This is a great question and one we get quite often! When you work with LENZ Collection, designing a custom gown means making your dream gown a reality. We speak with clients and collaborate on designing a gown that is based on their personal taste.

LENZ Collection creates a line of couture sample gowns for clients to choose from. When meeting with a client, we discuss what preferences they have for their custom gown and analyze their body shape to find the most perfect fit. In many cases,we construct the neckline from one sample style, the skirt from another style and incorporate a unique bead pattern from yet a third sample. If the sample color of the gown is in a vibrant blue, but the customer is looking for a beautiful fuchsia color, then we can make the gown in the color of her choice. Most of the time, we design gowns that are one-of-a-kind for our customers. We hand select fabrics, crystals and accent jewelry pieces in order to achieve the look that the client wants. A custom gown means creating the style and look that is perfect for you, and the possibilities are endless!

XO-

Jennifer & Ashley

You Asked...We Answered

On more than one occasion we have been posed with the question, "Where does your inspiration come from?". As artists, this is a fun but difficult question to answer. It is difficult because our inspiration comes from EVERYWHERE and EVERYTHING! Our eyes are open all the time; we are constantly observing our surroundings and soaking it in. We have pulled bead patterns from an earring we saw someone wearing or have chosen color palettes based on the cakes and pastries in a Paris cafe. And most importantly, if the gown doesn't excite us...we simply don't make it.

XOXO

Ashley & Jennifer

Do you have more questions for us? Send them to info@lenzcollection.com with the phrase You Asked...We Answered in the subject line, then look for it in upcoming blog posts!
